I got a clown tang from the lfs yesterday and he was doing fine all yesterday evening and i got home from work today and he is laying on the bottom of the qt. Just breathing heavy. No visible signs that i can see, no pinched stomach or white spots. Any ideas as to what it could be? The water is not even 24 hrs old. I do tank transfer method. No medication in the tank. I am assuming the only thing i can do at this point is wait it out. Temp and salinity is good. This one has me stumped.

Check your ammonia. I’ve personally seen how water quality is tempermental in qt

otherwise, go ahead and transfer him to the next tank now. That will solve all of the problems.

As the others have said, check ammonia and add oxygen via a powerhead or air stone. What kind of acclimation did he get? Could be possible osmotic shock or something of the sort for such a rapid decline.

Check your water still, and it will Show you whether your system is good for the next quarantine, or you should rethink your set up.
