Has anyone here had any luck with a clown trio ? I currently have just one ocellaris in my tank and i want to add a buddy for him. However i wanted to go with a designer clown and i found a local deal i cant let pass. But the owner will only sell me the pair and wont single them out. Two very nice Wyoming whites. Im gunna give it a try and see how it goes. If anything i think i will just end up taking one of the clowns to my lfs and get store credit. But any advice or tips on what I could do would be great. Im think of maybe putting the two new clowns in a breeder net or one of those little critter boxes and then after a couple days of them seeing my other clown i will let them out.

Unless you have a larger tank and you end up with two females there are going to be issues regardless of the acclimation box. Your plan is good but if this is a smaller tank and aggression ensues I would plan on removing the original if you want the pair badly enough. You can try move the scape around a little just prior to introduction, but again if this is a small tank and you end up with two females, there will be aggression.

Agreed with Tahoe,
Harems of clownfish aren't terribly difficult. Its all about environment. Big tanks with primary conditions have more success than smaller ones. Hierarchies develop based on environment capacities. Also, depends on the species of clownfish.

10 gallons thats the problem :( my current clown which is also my first clown isnt that big. I would say about 3 inches and the other 2 are also about the same size. The guy tells me the clowns arent yet mated and they are neutral sex. So i dont know if that makes a difference or not. But it would make me really sad to let my first clown go.
