Clown was sitting on the bottom

So I have my 2 clowns in qt right now. The female is always really active swimming and doing her stuff. The male has been similar until yesterday. I he was sitting on the bottom of tank, upright. He was breathing fast, not heavy. His mouth was barely opening but it was pretty quick. The female was not doing this.

The Seachem ammonia badge was starting to get closer to true alert level (.05) but was still yellowish. This morning the ammonia badge was pretty much the first shade of green (.05). And the male was just sitting on bottom and not swimming much. I did about a 79 percent water change right away. The badge went back to yellow and now he is swimming more and doesn’t appear to be breathing as fast (hard to tell because he is more active). Could this been ammonia related and if so why didn’t the female exhibit the same behavior? I am trying to determine if they have any disease. So far their skin is clean and bright. No problems that I can visually see.

Lastly, I dosed them with metro yesterday and now with the water change I completely removed most of it. Should I redose or wait until tomorrow and just stay on schedule? Do I have to start my dosing regime over?

Its my understanding that a fish that has had prior ammonia burns still retains its scarred gills. Meaning one could have no scars and the other more making it more difficult for the one over the other. I cannot give advice on metro im sorry.

Thanks. After doing the large water change he is breathing normal and moving around a lot more. That must have been the problem. It was a quick turnaround after the water change.
