Clown with strange issue

This clown his been part of the team for a few months. I’ve noticed these blemishes come and go for some time. Fish were quarantined for 30 days in copper prior to going in the tank. Tank build is new so no other contaminants that I can think of. It’s only on his side and like I said it comes and goes. All other fish are symptom free and all fish act and behave normally. There is another clown in the same tank that shows no signs at all of any issues. Any ideas?

Are you referring to those white specks close to that fin?

IMO if he’s eating and healthy, he should be fine. I know running carbon can affect tangs but those are more so lines. It could be ich but I’m not totally sure

Agreed. I’m thinking about putting the inhabitants of this tank in my 300 gallon and I would rather not introduce a problem to that tank that’s why I’m trying to figure this out.

Oh ok ok, if you’re worried you can try to take them out and treat with copper see if it’s a bacteria or parasitic infection of some sort, by seeing if copper treatment makes it go away. If you’re going that route with the 300 gallon I’d definitely treat it or if someone will come out with an official ID.

Those could be lifted scales, possibly from fighting? Could possibly be flukes. I would not move it to a DT with an undiagnosed issue. You might consider a 5 minute FW dip to check for flukes, have you done those before?

That’s exactly what I was planning on, getting water ready now! Yeah I’ve done them before. I definitely won’t move them until they pass all my tests with flying colors. Only aggression I ever see is with a lawnmower blenny, I think it’s just a mild quarrel typical of any blenny I’ve ever kept. Tank inhabitants are a yellow watchman, lawnmower blenny, and another black clown that is much smaller and a handful of hermit crabs.

Well freshwater dip revealed nothing. Any next steps worth mentioning?

I would then fall back to the "lifted scales" idea, and if there is no real tankmate aggression going on, just observe for now - lame advice, I know, but nothing else clear comes to mind.
