Had new clown fish for 2 days and they like to stay the top they don’t want to swim around the bottom or the caves is this normal

Welcome to R2R! Clowns are weird. Mine sleep on the top of the water and spend a lot of time hiding behind a HoB filter. Things to watch for that may be illness would be white specks on them, discoloration and rapid breathing.

i guess it depends on what you mean by hanging out at the top. would you say they are at the surface trying to get air, or just hanging out up high?
if they are new, it will take them a bit to get used to the tank, assuming that they arent at the top because of suffocation. if it is just because they are new, they will eventually explore more. many fish are like this. they are in a new environment, and are likely a little scared (or however you want to say it). clowns like the feeling of security, so when its a new environment, they dont have that secure feeling yet
