Clownfish acting strange??

Hey bud. I would consider adding another clown of the same species. they really need a partner so they can go and explore together and also interact with. i have two Black Snowflake that was lucky enough to get a pair that was already bonded for like 90 bucks. These two really love each other and never separate in the tank.love those two and because of them i decided to have QT tank. I have a red bubble-tip anemone in tank that hasn't moved and i haven't seen them interact with it . Hopefully they get acquainted later on lol. Bottom line, get him a partner a bit smaller but not too small because at the beginning they will fight to figure out who's the boss. they will figure out the sex themselves later on.

Awesome. Beautiful pair by the way. He who will most likley become the she as it will be the bigger of the two is a Black Ocelarius. I'm pretty sure they won't specifically have a Black Ocelarius but would I be okay with any Ocelarius as long as it's smaller?

Another tip: If you ever do choose to get an anemone, there is no guarantee your clown(s) will go to it. I bought my clowns 4 different anemones and they wanted nothing to do with any of them. I would recommend you not get one just for the simple fact they will cause issues with your corals. Clowns do just fine without them.

+1 to everything.

Clowns are just weird fish. Mine does the following and is perfectly healthy.

Swims head jammed into a top corner of the tank.
Shoves itself between HOB intake and glass.
Sleeps sideways at the surface of the water.
Tries to pick fights with substantially larger fish.

They are just bizzare critters, but sounds like yours could definitely do with a friend. You'll want a clown that is as smaller than yours as you can get.

I want to get my clown a pair, but I don't think he's grown enough, got him pretty tiny as a tank raised.

To be honest with you i have no clue. I just researched for that same question and there is a lot of mixed opinions based on their experience. for some people it worked and for some it didn't. You can definitely try but remember it has to be smaller so they can figure it out themselves. If you get a same size or bigger they will certainly fight until one them is out.

Clowns are obsessive. My 8 year old clown has been stalking a peppermint fish for hours trying to catch it and bring it to the anemones.
In my experience they need something to host, that gives them comfort. Could be a powerhead, a toadstool, a piece of PVC.

Clowns are always weird! I definitely believe that the clown will be happy if it‘s being hosted by a coral or an anemone. I actually have a single clown and it’s having a great time due to my anemone (it’s getting really big lol) :)

Thanks for all your help guys. I got him or most likely a her after they figure it out cuz my original one is bigger but I got IT a friend today. Another Black Ocelarius. About a 1/3 smaller and has some orange in it too. They seem to be getting along just fine! The larger made a few charges at the little one in the beginning but never bit, stopped as soon as it got close to the other. I assume trying to establish dominance. The bigger one did the side quiver a few times too lol I love when they do that. Dosing a prophylactic dose of Brightwell Fish Recover M to make sure no disease is present and everyone stays healthy. It's been an hour now and they haven't left each other's sides. When the larger does venture a little further away it swims back at the smaller one very quickly but then stops. Hopefully all stays civil.

I saw the video... Clowns can be weirdos for sure... There's nothing wrong yours... Mine swim upside down in the top left of my tank all the time... They just like it better there apparently... but they eat and they are healthy...

Awesome thanks. I've had a bunch of them over the years I guess I just never really realized how oddly they behave LOL
