i have had my ocellaris clown for almost 2 years now with no issues. There hasn’t been any disease outbreaks before, and the other fish get along fine with everyone. Heck even my dragonet is doing fantastic. But just TODAY, not yesterday or weeks past my clownfish for the first time has not eaten when I put food in this morning, and then as I looked closer, she is swimming very odd. Not scraping or lazy or even floating. Just like not using her tail, and is staying at the bottom of the tank. No signs of flukes, ick, or velvet. Only started acting like this TODAY. Anyone know what the problem might be? Like I said, the other fish are having zero problems, just her.

I will try to post a video as soon as possible, if the problem persists. My biggest guess on what’s happening is some sort of intestinal discomfort, or MAYBE she hit something in the tank and damaged something internally.

My female clown did this occasionally for no reason, she actually stopped eating for almost 2 weeks during one of these unexplained periods of odd behavior. She always eventually came around again and I never did figure out the cause.
I would test your water if you have not done so yet, check all equipment for defect or failure. Keep an eye on the other tank inhabitants for subtle signs of aggression such as posturing. Check the tank in the middle of the night for predators. Where does the fish sleep?

Any pictures? I could be some sort of parasite effecting her nervous system or intestinal system or if she suffered some sort of trauma from either your rocks or a piece of equipment causing paralysis #reefsquad

I will get good pics and such as soon as I can, and she tends to sleep in the bottom left corner of the tank, sometimes switches spots but not often. Is always very active and ready to eat. Just checked all equipment, no problems.

Here are some pics. Of coarse she swims in the ONE spot with dirty glass, so it might be hard to see small details. But i can assure you there are no signs of ick or flukes and such on the outside.

Like I said, when she swims she can get around just fine, and isn’t on her side or anything, it just looks like she cannot use her tail and is having to rely on her front side fins, forgot the correct term for them.

Oh, and I forgot to post what other fish are in there, a purple fire fish, a sapphire damsel, a green dragonet, and a yellow watchman goby. Inverts are just snails hermits and pencil urchin

HMM no physical signs to indicate trama. Could be internal. Have you added anything new to the tank within the past months?

UPDATE:

Good news, she is eating again, and is acting more normal. But definitely still swimming weird, Staying at the bottom of the tank... no signs of parasites or disease yet. Gonna wait this out until something happens. If anyone here knows why a clownfish might suddenly be acting like these please let me know!
