For the past month or so my male clownfish is just hovering near the sand bed, is this normal? I don't see any eggs he could be protecting. As you can see, he's very small compared to female. No signs of disease and he does eat , he gets good when it floats down to him. Any advice? I have had him and the female 3 years

Can you provide a few more photos? I can't tell if I see things on the fish or if it's the glass.

Any "dustings" or spots on the fish? Abnormal discoloration?

It could also be that your female is rejecting him-- is this a new addition? He may be hiding out of her wrath and doing his best to stay out of her way-- the proverbial man sleeping in the couch!

I have had them both 3 years, added together, she does seem to be ignoring him now that you mention it... not sure what I could do to help. No abnormal spots or discoloration that I can see

Give him a box of chocolates and some flowers...poor guy [emoji38]

Does the so called "rejection" happen all the time? Or is it just during certain hours? My clownfish spend the day together, but sleep on opposite sides of the tank. They've been doing it for 2 years now. Clowns are certainly a weird fish. If he's eating well, I wouldn't worry too much. When was the last wet thing added to the tank?

All day when lights on he hovers in same spot, when lights are off he moves to different spot with female. He's eating and last thing added was a leptastrea coral about 2 months ago.

Mine are weird too..one is all over the tank most of the time, while the other sits in one spot all day, then sleep together at night....clowns are just weirdos...lol
