Clownfish acting weird?

So my tank finally cycled.(Yay!) And finally decided on a pair of ocellaris clowns. When I woke up, I found they made a little crater. The male stayed near the crater, and was picking at something in the sandbed. He also was constantly moving his mouth. The female was fine and was swimming around.
Is there anything wrong with the male?

Nitrates: 4.something
Nitrites: 0.0

Is the male picking up sand at all or fanning it with his tail? What size are they?

It sounds as though he's acting out nestbuilding behavior. The males are particularly diligent in it, demonstrating to the female long before egglaying. That he's doing it in sand is a bit odd, though ... clowns generally nest on a hard surface.

My brothers clownfish love to make craters in the sand. I'm not sure about the mouth movements though and I'm not sure why his do that. Mine don't play in the sand at all.

My clown fish did the same , one made a hole in the sand and laid down, eventually it stopped doing it

Update: Clown started moving away from burrow acting really weird. Constantly picking at the sand, making mouth movements and just really being weird.

Males about one inch, and females about two. Clown has now started to flip out and hide in rock crevices in very weird positions.

Yep, typical nest building behaviour. And quite normal if normal is a thing with clownfishes...

I think i found the problem. Male was stuck to the filter intake and i moved the filter intake up and plan to put something around it to keep fish from getting stuck. Clown is scared right now but seems normal when something like this happens.

Stuck to the filter intake _isn't_ normal. Doesn't often happen to healthy fish.

Watch carefully for other symptoms.

Odd, but not entirely inappropriate.

I don't see any obvious symptoms of disease, but keep a watch.
