Clownfish and Anemone question HELP please!!

Just curious, what do you all keep in your tank with your clowns and how big is your tank? Did you add one clown and later add another or did you have other fish in there first when you added your clowns.

Thanks

I don't keep clowns... When I did, they were a bonded Darwin Ocellaris pair. They were named Johnny and June Carter Cash. They took over the tank quickly. My Lawnmower blenny died "mysteriously". Right after that, I watched them kill the Firefish Goby. I could not intervene fast enough. I watched them nearly kill the Yellow Watchman Goby. I was only able to save him because I pulled out his rock, and he stayed in it. I am quite sure the Royal Gramma would be next, so...

I renamed them "the Insane Clown Posse" and returned them to the LFS. I did not ask for credit or anything, I was just glad to be rid of them.

Some say their clown nip at their hands when in the tank i had my pair of Darwin ocellaris for almost a year they were fist in both bought small and paired without aggression. I house them in a 90gal Marineland with a 6 line, coral beauty that doesn't nip at my coral like others say, a diamond goby and a blue damsel named crip 8 hermits 4 red legs call the blood gang and purple claws and 40 or more Mexican turbo snails for cuc

Yes, folks with larger tanks are more successful with clowns. This is a key point of context in this discussion for the OP.

Hello,

I currently have 2 damsels in a 40 gallon tall tank that I used when cycling the tank. I'm going to take them back to the LFS as he said he would take them back and would like to go down the Clownfish route. Question is, I see so many types that he has there like Storm, Maroon, Saddleback etc... Are ALL these considered Ocellaris Clownfish or another more aggressive type and what are the more aggressive types? I ask because I realize they are considered "semi-aggressive" mainly between other clowns but is it true if I wanted to add other peaceful or semi-aggressive fish it "should" be ok? I don't want to have to remove fish again if I'm more aware going forward.
I was looking down the road at a goby (maybe Mandarin Goby), wrasse, and can I put a Puffer in there with Clowns or is that a big NO NO?
Also, on the clownfish note, do they HAVE to have an Anemone to pair with right off the bat or can that come at a later time like 4 or 6 months down the road. Right now I have a Duncan and Zoa frag in my tank and that is it along with 40lbs of live rock (10lbs Australian Live Rock & 30 lbs. Fiji rock).

Thanks!
Ocellaris or percula are your common clowns while storm, snowflake and others are collectors. I find your common clowns and wild caught adapt easier to anemones
Females of any genus are generally more aggressive often being the larger will claim territory, corner the smaller being a male and even hog the food as a hierarchy associated with clowns.
Clowns such as maroon, cinnamon and even sebae will literally bite your hand in due time

I only been in the 90gal for a month and a half before that it was a tight 55gal but the had the same attitude. I believe its were you get them from the size tank they came out of and what tank mates did they have before you all that matters if you consider the actions of fish

A clown that had an anemone in the tank at the lfs would adhere quickly to one introduced in another tank apposed to never knowing one and instincts have to kick in
