Ok i see there is a clownfish forum, but i dont think this pertains all too clownfish or not. If its does feel free to move it..

Ok back to topic! I have 2 percula clowns, 1 big one and one small..the bigger one who i guess hosts the sandbed on the right corner of my tank just started attacking my hand recently. I thought he was trying to charge at the thawed shrimp that i was trying to feed to a unhosted BTA just now, but instead bit my thumb haha. It didn't hurt but im more stunned that he did it. I had thought about adding 2 carpenters wrasse but i hear they sometimes get picked on so having this clown getting aggressive all of a sudden has me thinking.. Maybe i cant have peaceful fish? Is this normal behavior and will i be able to add peaceful fish..Mandarin Goby, Carpenter Wrasse, and maybe a Salifin Blenny (THATS IT, I KNOW ABOUT BIOLOAD)..etc. (SMALL FISH, This is a 55 gallon tank with about a 20 gal sump and around 70 pounds of live rock throughout sump and display)

I have a cleaner shrimp, six lien wrasse, and a peppermint shrimp in there too. The percula has NEVER bothered another fish, but hates my hand. I plan on selling the shrimp if i decide on getting the blenny.

My female would attack my aqua tongs when ever I got close to her ricordea farm. and more than once I saw her beat the hell out of my coral banded and a emerald crab.

I'm with TroyLee on this one; mine bites me all the time - it's her way of telling me she's hungry

Either way I wouldn't worry about it. My biting clown doesn't even acknowledge that my other fish exist.

Haha I didn't know why it all of a sudden attempted to bite me, it usually runs the other way. I can't wait for it to host the anemone, then i wouldnt have to stick my hand into the tank to hand feed it!

But i just did recently in troduce the small perc 2 weeks ago, could that make it aggresive.. or the fact i didnt have gloves on?

It's just something with the hands haha... I feed mine flakes so if I have a tiny scab on my hand somewhere which is about every day from my job they start attacking it thinking it's food lol.... I had a pair at one time and after they spawned I couldn't get a hand in without the female drawing blood... Mean little boogers.... Lol

My male used to be the biggest lil *******. He'd go from wherever in the tank he was and just start biting your knuckles repeatedly as soon as they were in the water. After a while he seems to have mellowed up and isnt biting anymore. More looking for food.

Yea, my female ocellaris used to be mean, every time I'd put a finger in the tank she would turn into a piranha attacking me non stop, doesn't really hurt, but it is annoying

I have 2 pairs of clowns and if I put my Hans in there tank. They bite it once or twice then go on there way lol.

Ok thanks everyone! You guys know if i can add 2 carpenter wrasse with these percs without them getting harassed?

both pairs of clowns i have never bother any other tank mates. they will defend them selves but i have never seen them be the aggressor towards anyone else.
