This fish has had this for weeks, so I didn't think it was brook - I've had that before it kills fast. I broke down the tank it and other fish was in, and put them all in a QT tank. It's kind of a like a greyish rough surface. This fish is only breathing heavily because I had to chase him quite a bit to catch for the video. Please set the video to HD for a better view. I went out of focus on the last half of the video.

Two questions - tried posting this in the brook thread, but I'm not sure anyone see those replies.
1) It sounds like we're going to need multiple QT tanks for treatment because we give bath - transfer to sterile QT ->bath ->sterile QT. You can't really sterilize a tank in the 45 minute time of the bath. Do you agree @Humblefish and @Melpyr1985 ?
2) If I get brook in a system that is fish only, no live rock, no live sand... after I treat the fish with baths per the instructions above. if I dose the system they came from with Formalin, would I be reasonably sure the brook would be gone, assuming that I ditch any media, etc that may impede the formalin? I guess my question is...does formalin eradicate Brook from tanks, equiptment, etc. Unfortunately I don't have the ability to scrub down the system.

Yes, using multiple tanks is optimal because as you pointed out, successfully sterilizing a tank in just 45 minutes is dicey. o_O

Formalin will eradicate brook from a QT, but I would redose every 48 hrs for 2 weeks just to play it safe. The downside to treating brook in-tank using formalin is the fish is continuously being exposed to a harsh chemical (as opposed to just a 45 min bath.) A safer in-tank treatment for brook would be metro: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/metronidazole.298762/

Is a fish swimming into a powerhead continuously a sign of velvet or brook?

and can metro be dosed with CP, how about with Formalin?

Velvet

Metro can be combined with CP, but probably not a good idea mixing it with formalin.
Ok - jeez I hope I don't have both in my fish room. One QT had what you guys said looked like brook. My other QT has a fish swimming into a powerhead. Others are hiding in PVC pipes from light. I am trying to get ahold of a Vet who will prescribe some real CP. I only have the stuff from fishman chemical on hand.

That definitely sounds like velvet. It’s very common now, unfortunately!

For sake of time, I’d skip the vet and just start chelated copper like coppersafe or copper power. You don’t have much time!

Agreed.

You could have ramped your copper halfway to therapeutic before your vet gets around to saying "No". If it turns out that you can get CP, you should be able to switch over without too much trouble.
