When I set up my Reefer 250, one species I really wanted was skunk clownfish. Non of my lfs had any in stock and all said that they very rarely see any in the trade. So I settled on a pair of juvenile percs, who are still sorting out their hierarchy.
Well surprise surprise, my nearest lfs has now got a pair of skunks in stock, a bonded male and female. They say that skunks, because of their different body shape and easy going nature, are the only breed of clownfish that I can add to the tank. And they will not have any issues with my percs and visa versa.
If this is true, and I'm certainly not convinced, I will buy the pair. But I don't want WW3 going on inside my tank.
Is the lfs correct or are they just trying to make some cash?

It really will likely just depend on the individual fish and the current attitude in your tank. I am sure if you look around enough you will find someone that says you can and someone that had a negative experience. If you decide to move forward with the pair, I would use an acclimation box to introduce them, as well as having a backup plan if they don't get along. As clownfish can be some of the nastiest fish in the hobby.

They either will be ok or they won’t ;). Really depends on the individuals. As for the availability of skunks.... I don’t know where you live, but skunks are readily available in my area.

90% chance of a long term failure imo
