I have a clownfish that stop eating a few days ago. Today I see a thing sticking out of his butt... looks pretty big. it's been there the whole day. Is he constipated?

They can be.

When aquarists suspect that a fish might be a bit stopped up, one simple trick (which works very well with fancy goldfish, whose internal anatomy makes them very susceptible to constipation) is to feed them shelled peas.

That would probably work with clownfish as well - if you can get them to eat peas. I'm not sure how well it'll work at this stage, as the peas would have some catching up to do.

Just yesterday one of mine towed around a turd like a streamer for about an hour. I don't know if they can get constipated or not.

Yes the bottom does look like that... Well, whatever it was it finally passed..

After not eating for about 3 days and breathing heavy at the bottom of the tank, he's back to his old self...

What's a prolapse?

Does his bottom look anything like this?

It's kind of like getting so constipated that you push so hard that the inside of your anus is pushed out of your body. sometimes it fixes itself (lucky you!) and sometimes not.
