I have a mated pair of clownfish for the past 8 years. Recently I noticed the smaller male having what I think is bruising on the side of him. I have tried Ruby Rally just incase it is a disease but have not seen any improvement. It doesn’t appear to Ich or Brooklynella. I noticed a new spot under his chin looks like a pimple. Just wondering if anyone has come across this. Nothing new has been introduced to the tank. Maybe old age? Also not acting any different and still is eating and moving about. Thanks.

Have you noticed any aggression between the two? It does look like an infection as a result of injury.

I have noticed the bigger female bumping into him more often but not all the time. They always had the back bottom corner where they would breed and lay eggs for many years. But I think they stopped doing that when I noticed the male with what I think are bruises.

I hope my clownfish make it 8 years! can't help you with the disease question unfortunately but 8 years ownership of the clowns is awesome. hope you figure everything out.

You can try moving to a qt and treating with kanaplex. Hopefully that helps clear up any infection, it wouldn’t solve any potential pair bond issues though.
