Ive recently started putting seaweed rubber banded to a sea shell i found on the beach for my urchins and conchs. My clownfish has just started to tear it apart and eat it. Arent clownfish carnivores? Anybody else had this happen? Should i feed him more?

All my fish eat seaweed and always have, most won't take it off the clip but broken pieces they can swallow they will in a heartbeat. Even had a wrasse that would share the clip with a tang.

My cleaner wrasse is always the first one to take a bite at the nori in my tank.

The Clownfish is only doing it to irritate you.
Haha he hates just about everything in the tank, he always kicks the sand out of his cave with his tail. And always pushes these shells around i have in the tank.

I throw nori into the tank (About 3-4 strips) and everyone will take some with the foxface taking the most.
Definitely not unusual for a clown to eat nori!

Clown are opportunistic feeders especially in the wild and their diet consists of zooplankton, small crustaceans, and small portions of algae and all meaty foods which is why I state often to others- they are not a flake and pellet feeder as many LFS suggest.

Oh, im going to get some black worms most likely tomorrow and see if he likes those

Careful those as if any remain uneaten, can quickly foul tank water

The only fish that I have that seems to be a pure carnivore is a squirrelfish. Everything else, from a spotband butterflyfish to a matted filefish to multiple angels (spread across various tanks) make a beeline for the nori whenever it's put into the tank.

Everything's a flake and pellet feeder if you get it to feed on flakes and pellets.
