So last week I added the first fish to my aquarium. Two clownfish and a yellow watchman goby with a pistol shrimp (then a small cleanup crew). To this point i've been putting a few small pellets along with a few flakes in each morning (the goby and the craps seem to eat whatever). The clownfish will pick at that stuff...but dont' really eat it. In the evening I've been putting in small amount of frozen brine shrimp that the clowns do go crazy over. The goby eats this as well....looks like he's not picky at all.

What I'm already starting to worry about however is a vacation in August that I'll be away for a week. There's no way to put frozen brine shrimp in the automatic feeder...is there something I should be doing ahead of time to push the clowns into wanting something other than just the brine shrimp...? Anything that could be put in auto feeder?

Try feeding a quality pellet or flake at the same time you feed the brine. Less brine each time and more of the alternative food. They'll get the idea quickly.

+1. You may want to try a couple different types of flakes or pellets.

If fish are well fed, they can easily go a few days without food as well... The fish food companies don't endorse this of course.
