Just picked up my first fish! It’s a mocha storm and an orange storm. Drop acclimating them now but it seems they are constantly fighting. I have a video of them. Are the asserting dominance or just don’t like each other? They keep facing each other for a few seconds and I think biting.

hi,sorry no way... liplocking, going for fins ,looking to kill, not just dominate behavior, need to put larger one in acclimation box let smaller in tank watch..for day or two,..

watched again yes larger is attacker going for fin..

If one does not do the shimmy to submit soon, you could have a problem Nice clowns. If the tank is large neough for them to get away from each other you should be fine until they figure out the dominance structure. Unless by chance both have turned female already. How large are they?

Tank is 20galloons. Not sure what the shimmy is but one seemed to stay at the bottom for a little bit and they stopped attacking each other for a good 20 minutes now. They are around the same size, maybe an inch

rewatch video going for fins i'm sorry one will be gone..acclimation box..saying from 30 yrs exp, sorry it will work but days..

They are still juvies then. They are just trying to determine who will be top fish. One will do a sort of shimmy/shake withits tail facing the other or side facing the other. This one will be the submissive one and stay a male. The other would become larger and female.
If you see torn fins, or injuries, there is not enough room for the submissive to escape. May need to separate. Usually, they work it out. The female will become very bossy and keep the male in a corner for a long time. That is normal.

best wishes, watch close hope all works out, be ready..if need to sep.happy reefing :)

Looks like both want to be female. Can you trade one for a smaller one?
They have been in the tank for an hour and a half and no fighting. Also they only had one of each so I don't really want to trade for another. Still going to constantly watch if fighting starts
