Any idea what it is caused from? I just bought these guys today and stuck them in qt. Seems to be mainly in females fins.
The males fins look fine so far. I watched this pair of clowns for a few weeks at the shop and they looked fine but I didn’t look over the fins close enough I guess. They were in a tank with a six line wrasse and a coral beauty.
Anyone know if the clown missing black on the edge is indicative of any disease or just the way this clown is. This is the female. The little male she is paired with does not pick on her. Fish was in a tank with a coral beauty and 6 line wrasse at store.
I just want to make sure it is not something like Brooklynella. Fish looks fine outside of some fins missing black edges. I just never seen a clown without black edges. I’m she seems to be doing good right now.
If your fish came from a large tank with a lot of fish, it's not unusual for a little fin nipping to have occurred. Three clowns in a small space, there will be fights, one will come out on top as the dominant female, the second will be the paired male and it's likely the 3rd will be killed.
I asked the shop and they said they didn’t notice too Much bad behavior. The fins that are missing black are translucent at the tips. It just goes orange to translucent with some sections have orange, black, translucent.
There were four fish total in tank. 2 clowns, wrasse and coral beauty. I figure as long as he is acting right I won’t lean toward a disease. I just want to be vigilant and make sure she is healthy.
I’m pretty sure that is just how her fins are going to be. When you can catch her when she is not moving you can see that there is a clear section after the orange like on all clownfish fins (except theirs is usually after the black portion of the fin). Probably got nipped or damaged past the black and then grew back already with clear edge.
