Clownfish fins turning transparent

Im new to fish keeping and really wanted a saltwater tank. I decided to go with two baby ocellaris clownfish. There has a tiny bit of agression where the one that is slightly bigger will come up to the smaller one really fast. I have had them for 5 days now and they have been eating from the first day and swim around alot all day. Well today i noticed that the edge of their fins are transparent they look intact and dont look like they are rotting.

Good on you for keeping such a close eye on your fish. Sometimes fish as they get older the edges of their fins will turn a bit translucent on the edges.

However, it can also signal that the fish is developing velvet or Brook. Early Brook and velvet can present the same visually. If so, you will need to act quickly.

Thanks, i wanted to go to my lfs today to just get some medications just in case but they werent open because of new year and i know they dont have prazipro or api general cure. I checked online on their website but i think they do have seachem paraguard and i heard some people recomend it. I will be going this weekend though

They look nice and healthy.. I'd just keep an eye on them. Add they get used ti each other and determine hierarchy, they will swim strangely around each other.

Brook is very common with clowns, so a quarantine tank is advisable to allow prophylactic treatment with some Metronidazole.

Yes, but my lfs does a 6 week quarantine before putting any livestock on for sale and i have seen their quarantine room .do you think i should still quarantine fish that i might decide to get later on?

I would quarantine my own fish. It's hard to trust a LFS...rare to find one that actually holds fish for 6 weeks prior to displaying them for sale. I would think their overhead costs and fish losses would put them out of business.

But, depends on the risk level you are willing to accept. I quarantine and prophylactically treat my fish prior to putting in my display tank and have yet to have a disease in my system... knock on wood.

Clear outlines of the fin is normal. Its especially obvious in common clownfish. I think the outline looks nice.

it would probably put some shops out of business in the USA but since i live in ireland my lfs has a monopoly because they have no competition. they are the only store that sells marine animals that i know of. even though they are a respected shop they overcharge a lot especially for livestock.

still i do believe i should quarantine from now on but im 13 and cant really just buy another tank right now .

i sure will get one before buying anymore fish, thanks a lot
