Hello,

Going to go pick up a pair of fish from my LFS. Question when you all buy pairs, do you get them from the same LFS and same tank OR do you buy 1 clown from 1 LFS and another clown from another LFS?
I just don't want any inbreeding if they do breed.
Also,
Wanted to get a wrasse (open to any kind) and a goby, but want to see what you all recommend.
Any help I'd appreciate it.

I usually get my Clown from the same store unless they only have a single type of clown such as a Black Storm. If that is the case I will try another store to get the other one to try and pair them up. Often times, the pet shops already have pairs in a separate tank to help eliminate the step of trying to pair them up.
As for Wrasses and Gobies are concerned, what size tank do you have? Do you plan on adding a Pistol Shrimp? Do you have any corals in the sand that could be affected if you were to purchase a goby? Many of them consume sand and filter out pods and then spit the sand back out often times, dumping the sand on top of corals or live rock that could pose problems.
Six-Line Wrasses are colorful, hardy and inexpensive. flasher and Fairy Wrasses are gorgeous, especially the males, but larger tanks are required. Do you plan on keeping corals and inverts ? If so, that takes many Wrasses out of the equation do to their feeding requirement.
Some of the smaller Gobies, like Twin Spot, Yellow Watchman, Randall’s, Clowns and Blue Gudgeon make nice additions.
Good luck, hope this helps…

Most the time if a store has a bunch of clownfish of the same species they are probably from the same batch. And even from the same town the other store maybe selling from the same batch if ordering their fish from same place.
I would look for someone that deals in wild caught for breeding pairs if that’s your goal. Or even buy from different breeders.
