Hi, I'm interested in trying out a Clownfish Harem/Circus, and was wondering if I could mix different types of them in the sense that I could get 1 of each, Regular ocellaris, Snowflake, Black Ocellaris, Black Snowflake, Wyoming, Misbar Black and Regular Misbar? To my understanding they are all Ocellaris, what changes is the color, so as long as I get them all at the same time and the same size, it would be alright or am I wrong? Thanks in Advance.

Question, what size tank do plan on having your harem in? Are you going to keep them with anemones? In a lot cases, once a true pair is formed, they’ll harass and/or kill the rest of them. I wouldn’t try a harem unless you have a pretty large tank, good luck

I wouldn't put anemones, as I've read they could cause more aggression, was going to try a 54 gallon corner, they would be the only fish in the tank.

have you watched the BRS series on their clownfish harem tank?

if memory serves, they felt like adding all of them at the same time and from the same broodstock was part of their success. i think there was one they had in there that had some visual difference and it was the only one that got really badly bullied and they had to pull it from the tank.

and they also had a ton of anemones in there and fed super heavy

melev's reef has a 50 or 60 gallon cube tank that has a bunch of clowns in there, idk if he has ever done a video on the clowns and what he thinks you would need to do with them to keep them happy

I think a 54 gallon corner tank wouldn’t work, not enough room for them. A tank with a larger surface area would be better. If you can only have s corner tank, I’d get a pair only

I'll check it out, thanks for mentioning it!

So, if we go by surface area, a 55 or 75 gallon would be a better option? I do have a 75 i could try it in. Wouldnt be the only fish in there tho. Already have a Wrasse and a Longnose Hawkfish.

my LFS has a cube tank exactly like this ... mixed ocellaris varieties ... quite cool to observe.

granted, group aggression might get constantly disrupted with specimens being sold & added later. i’ll have to ask about that and report back. :)

Those would look amazing in a tank dedicated to them.

imagine an anemone like this or similar zebra pattern hosting the harem! if only! that would be insane! :D

(Nemanthus annamensis)
It would look great! But because I like contrast, a Red Bubble Tip Anemone would look awesome aswell!
