My clownfish has black dots on it and I was just wondering if it was a disease or if it’s common in clownfish .

I don’t see any black spots but I do see some white spots, it looks like ich to me.

There’s a black coloration on its back which wasn’t there before

That just looks like a dark coloration. Clowns change color a bit as they mature or based on their environment.

They can also get hypermelanization if they get stung by something which often presents as smaller black marks but not really small spots.

Oh ok thx for helping .

Actually for some reason my tank has sand particles flying about every where it could be that .

First off ... _gorgeous_ percula! I love the thickness and intensity of those black edges!

The dark smudging along his back is pretty common - it can intensify to black as they get older, and almost fill in between the white stripes, leaving only accents of orange in the "points" of fins and nose. I happen to think that makes for a very dramatic look.

Hello, sorry to hijack your thread. I didn’t want to create a new one for a similar reason. Within the past couple of days, my fish went from few spots .. to about 75% full of black spots ! Is this black ich? Gonna do a water change ASAP but not sure if I should quarantine... I don’t have a tank for that yet.
