Hello my clown fish has a red thingy inside him and has a small bump where the thing is located. This has just appeared today and he is acting normal. Everything else in the tank is normal and corals open

It is the red thing behind his middle white stripe the bottom clown

Does the red spot have a worm coming out of it or attached to it?

Nothing is coming out of it
It is all inside the clown

Can you give a better description? Your saying there is something red INSIDE the clown under the red spot? Is he scratching against the rocks, sand, powerheads at all?

This is why I'm concerned with that, what your describing sounds a lot like this:

Uronema marinum:

Symptoms - These are the red sores often seen on chromis damsels. The disease seems mostly confined to damsels and clownfish, but I have seen some exceptions to that.

Treatment options - This is a very difficult disease to treat. Possible treatment options include: Metronidazole (ex. Seachem MetroPlex), acriflavine (ex. Acriflavine-MS), Chloroquine phosphate and copper. The problem is the fish can never be returned to the infected tank from which it came. Uronema is a “free living” parasite which does not require a fish host. So, going fallow will not eradicate it. Most fish seem protected from it via their natural immune system; but for some reason, chromis and some other fish are not always afforded this protection. Once a tank has Uronema, it must be assumed that the disease can survive in there almost indefinitely.

Formalin bath or freshwater dip may provide temporary relief for Uronema.

Ok and he isn't scratching against anything he acts perfectly normal
The red splotch is inside him. I can't really think of what else to describe it as but a red blotch thing

I have zero experience with uronema. Another possibility would be a wound or maybe a sting. Do you have anything that might sting your clown? Nems or torch, hammer, galaxia?

I have a hammer coral that was added 2 days ago and is my first hammer

Its possible he got too close to the hammer without being acclimated to it and got a little sting. So just watch it and him. See if there are any changes in it or his behavior. If he's eating and acting completely normal then I think we are save with a "wait and see" approach. Oh and if he was stung, he will be ok in the future going near it again. Clownfish just need to acclimate to a coral's sting and build up a resistance.

^^ Could be this or Uronema or even possibly the beginnings of a bacterial infection. Like the lady said, it's best to take the wait and see approach for now and see what happens next.

Well sorry for replying so late but i just wanted to say that it cleared up after a few days. So I guess it was probably a sting mark.

Thanks

Glad it turned out to be just a sting. Yay! Thanks for letting us know how it turned out.
