Clownfish have Spots? Stings?

I think mine were 39.99 each. Listed as "Percula Clownfish" on the tank. Why does it have to be so complicated to ID clowns lol. You'll have to keep me updated on your clowns as to whether or not the stings go away. Mine are still there, but they seem to be healthy.

It is hard to tell the difference. Even the "experts" seem to have difficulty. My wife picked out a fish I thought was a royal gramma but ended up being a bicolor dottyback. I think I overpaid but we got several free zoa frags so I can't complain too much.

My one clown has had the spots for awhile and he seems fine. A kid at another LFS told me that it is normal and just happens to some clowns as they age.

Good luck and have fun. I need to remember this as I stress too much about my tank. :-)

Yep, I have been dealing with hair algae as well. My biocube is 4 months old. I just installed an inTank media basket and Tunze 9001 skimmer to see if it would help.

Always something.

I have resorted to trying to reach in a pull it out manually, but I can't get all over it out. And I have to fight with my clowns to do so. The female bites me every time I try to move something in the tank lol

Gemini,

How are your clown fish doing? I just noticed that the spots on my clowns have disappeared. The only thing I have done different is I fedd them flake food with garlic for awhile but now I'm back to brine shrimp. I think it is just normal aging process.

Also, I'm still having issues with hair algae.
