I introduced 2 baby clown fish into my tank yesterday and they stick together as well as only swim in one spot in the water column. They might go to another spot but then they will both swim there and only there for a decent amount of time. The cycle repeats.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

That sounds like normal clownfish behavior. Sometimes, clownfish will fight, so it is good that these two are swimming together.

Are they eating well?

Jay

on my last tank, i had 2 percula clowns that did the same thing. there home was where the overflow met the tank glass. top of the water, about 1-2" below the surface. they'd leave that location to eat, but nothing more. I added hide outs and nems for them, but the overflow was there happy place.

Thanks Jay. Yes they are eating well. They're still tiny little guys no bigger than an inch. They are much more familiar with the tank and have started swimming around more. Noticed something I find intriguing. Accidently turned on a red LED light that goes on my bicycle while next to the tank. The clownfish immediately swam towards it and kept following it. Pretty cool

That's pretty much normal for clowns, yeah.

Be aware that as they grow, they're going to start to fight for dominance. Once they figure out which one is in charge, that one will shift into a female, the other will stay a male, and the female will grow quite a bit larger than her mate. You'll also see her pretty regularly chase him a little bit- if she doesn't keep proving that she's dominant, he'll turn into another female. Very cool behavior, and normal, but a bit alarming to see.

I found that many fish go crazy over red laser pointers also..
