I have an ocellaris..."common clownfish" and i know they can change gender but how can i tell the sex of the one that i have? I would also like to get another of the same breed so it can have a companion and possibly breed so what can i look for as far as getting one of the opposite gender after i figure out what my current one is?

If you've had it for a while (a year or so) and it's been the only clownfish, then it's a female.

Find the smallest Ocellaris you can find - juveniles are male - and you should be able to get them to pair.

Yep, just get one that is smaller, and you should be good, if you see a ton of aggression, you have two females, but if you go small, you should be good to go.

If it has been on its own for even as little as 2 weeks they can begin to change sex. And when you look for the smallest one, look for one with other clowns to ensure it is not another female.

Thanks for the help, i now know that it is a she lol now the quest to find it a mate and some anemones begins
