During a power off condition, my onyx perculas got sucked partially down my return line. I have a basement sump so it’s a long way. The pump restarted before all the water drained, and it’s possible she was in the pump

Right eyeball fully ejected and red
Dorsal fins completely shredded
Several marks and blemishes on skun

I have a tank available as hospital, and filters etc.

Course of action?

NFG? Dose, time?

Pretty urgent- she’s in a 2 gal bucket right now after I scooped her out.

thanks.

It had been recommended to me in the past to use kanaplex and neoplex for eye injuries when I had a wrasse with a bulging eye after riding the water slide to the sump. It healed the eye but after introducing back to the DT the wrasse disappeared again. Hoping he’ll show up in all his glory one day.

I have kanaplex available

She’s in a hospital tank, going to hold off treating for an hour or so. Family stuff. Worst timing ever

I was in the same situation. I started dosing kanaplex and ordered neoplex. Once the neoplex arrived I started it.
You mentioned NFG in your post. What medicines do you have besides the kanaplex? I’ll also call a couple guys that can help you far better than I can.

Neil,
If you don't have rally on hand I would go ahead and start NFG. I responded to PM before I saw this thread. So if you have rally use that, if not start NFG because it contains MB and is a good antiseptic.

This. Clownfish are tough, but ouch that rough

Thanks guys.

Added 30ml rally to the 10g hospital tank.

Daily dosing after a water change, or give it a couple days in between?

Since I was caught off guard, I need to do WC for ammonia control, at least until I get a chance to grab some biospira. Planning 30-40% every couple days. But could make it 20% daily with a new dose if that’s best

Cheers

Hi guys

Quick update.

I’ve had Craig in his own 10g, with 30-50% WC every 3 days to keep ammonia down and adding RRR with each new change. I didn’t do Abx, just relied on RRR as preventative

He basically lost the eye, his dorsal fin is looking less ragged, eating ok, but doesn’t chase food, only grabs it once it’s on the bottom.

I’m a little concerned regarding his swimming attitude. Appears as though it’s taking great effort to get into the water column, so he kinda sits on the bottom gently finning most of the time.

Here a vid

I was planning to take back to DT this week given that infection seems to have been avoided, but this is giving me pause. Any idea? Swim bladder issue?

Thanks guys!

How can you tell? I’m just curious- I’m not a fish doctor, and would like to learn.

Thanks

Poor little guy. If you got sucked through a tube and had your arms shredded and lost an eye, you'd probably be in a lot of pain. :( Not being rude, just explaining.

You probably wouldn't be doing a lot of running around either which probably explains his lazy swimming. He definitely needs the oxygen but maybe lower the bubbles/flow just a bit so he doesn't have to fight the flow of water so much. I'm not sure what else. Just give him time to recover and don't rush putting him back into DT. He's a cute little guy and definitely a fighter! Hoping for the best! :D

So, happy to report that Craig has been back in the DT for about 10 days now and is doing great!! Feeding well, proper swimming attitude, flirting with his mate.

Thanks to everyone for the advice- very much appreciated!
