I've had a pair of Clownfish in my tank for about 2 and a half weeks now. When I first got them they were fighting pretty intensively, nipping, locking lips, etc, this eventually sorted itself out and they stopped being so aggressive. for the past week the female has been roaming the tank, while the male hides in a corner of the tank, the male sometimes comes out but the female chases the male back. The male often shakes/shivers to show that he is submissive, but the female seems to chase him anyway, in the past couple of days the female and male at times have been around each other without fighting but the male still hides alot and the female still chases him sometimes. The male seems to have a tear in his fin and the coloration on his fin seems to look a little faded, he also has some scratches on the top of his head area (Could this be from rubbing against the rock?). Is there anything I need to worry about, or should I just wait until they stop fighting?

Great question! As long as his life isn't threatened or his wounds are topical and don't get infected then I would continue to observe. It sounds like they are still working through their hierarchy and pairing issue - sometimes it just takes longer than others. Good luck!

I had a very similar situation just a couple of weeks ago. Bought a pair of clowns that had been together for a year. Spent a month in QT with no issues. Three days after going into DT the female became aggressive. Male showed all the right submission signs. I let it go a few days until we found male laying on bottom of tank. Almost all color gone, half his tail gone, dorsal fin torn. Put him back into QT by himself, treated the tank with antibiotics and kept my fingers crossed. We'll, he pulled thru and is now in my smaller DT. But he is blind! Very hard at feeding time. Pretty sure he finds food by smell but still hard to keep him fed well.

Moral:. Keep a close watch on your pair!
