Clownfish keeps nipping me

If I stick my hand in my tank to do work my clown keeps biting me, and it actually jolts me a little, does anyone know how to get him to stop?

NO way it's going to stop! That's what clowns do. Only reason I gave mine away. Evil fish period-lol Mine would actually jump out of the water to get at me!!

thats a tough one. my female clown, doesnt quite nip at me..but, i often feel she may. she bites the feeding baster as soon as it hits the water.

maybe try a glove? not really sure. doubt it will stop though.

Mine draws blood..my LFS guy did teach me a trick that at least kinda works lol..keep your hand in a position like you're going to flick somebody..and when it comes at you or even near you just flick at it..don't actually try to hit it of course..but the fast movement will make her retreat, and after about 7-10 times of flicking at my female I can get a minute or two before she comes back lol...Over time mine has seemed to stop biting me for the most part..sounds silly but it seems to help and I feel your (very literal) pain for sure haha

Well..time to buy some new clowns lol..maybe start hunting for some you like better...

You're a lucky one haha..mine didn't until I had her for a little over a year..

HAHA she has bite me once or twice, when I was working in the tank too close to her home. But, I instinctively started flicking at her and she bolted. I forgot to mention that earlier. But, darn fiesty fish for sure.

Another method along the same lines using a net or something like that to persuade them to hide..i use a glass scraper/water stirring stick to keep them away when I feed the corals..guess it depends on how brave yours is lol

It does this because it sees your hand as food. Happens because your clown sees your hand followed by a conicopia of food. Kinda like if you are hungry and see a McDonald's Bag sitting on the table.
