Hi!

My clownfish recently laid eggs. I have been told that they are basically "free fish food". What are the chances that some actually make it? And if they do make it, how do you make sure they survive?

Appreciate some feedback :)

Welcome to reef2reef !!
If you have a fuge there chance of survival is higher but very hard to keep them alive in the DT

They really would need to be pulled and placed in a growout tank w/ live rotifers to survive, otherwise they are very short lived, but like you said, great free food.

It takes a bit of effort to actually raise them.

I have raised them before and used separate tanks along with raising live rotifers and micro algae for them. Left in the aquarium...I would expect 0% success. This is due to the very large amount of predators, pumps, corals, and finding the right food source is limited.
