I have a clownfish that I have had for about a year. It is the much smaller of the pair. It is laying on its side breathing rather heavily in its normal corner of the tank. It will swim away if my hand comes near it but is otherwise mostly just laying on its side. It almost looks like its fighting a buoyant belly so I am wondering if it is a possible swim bladder infection? Any suggestions? I haven't had any new fish additions for over 6 months. No new coral pieces in probably 2 months.

I hate to say this but it looks like Brooklynla disease(clownfish disease). Be careful as this situation can wipe out a significant portion of your fish population.
I had it a few years back and it took all my clowns including Tomato, Cinnamon, Picasso etc as well as a bunch of high end wrasse. I fed a lot of Selcon and tried to boost immunity and it ran its course. Have not idea how it got into my aquarium.

This just happened to me yesterday then I went back down a few hours later and the fish was dead.

What in the images gave it away or is the behavior typical of the disease? Is there a way to treat or does it kill too quickly?

Had same thing happen to a clown on thanksgiving. I ran to walmart bought a 3 gal beta tank bcuz nothing else was open. Put him in there with a air stone no meds just kept the water clean and didnt feed him. Hes still in QT now and thriving in a bigger QT now. I ended up giving him a cure all treatment anyways. But i think i pulled him out just in time. IF its a parasite theres a tank swap method i think i may have gotten lucky and done it unintentionally.

Update, my fish was doing this in the tank. Took him out and put him in freshwater for 10 minutes with a little prime and he seems to be back to normal so far. Hope this helps somebody else.

Update: the clownfish has died I believe, he is MIA and no signs of the body (I assume the CUC got him overnight. I tried a FW dip and then treated the tank with prazipro but to no avail. He was still alive last night but struggling. Should I look for a nutrient spike? Do a water change?

Sorry to hear that man...

If I suspect a death in the family I will always check ammonia. WC might be needed or if you have a smaller nano system.
I would also check around and in overflow to see if he jumped.

I actually just found the body with some nassarius snails working on him so I pulled it out. I still don't now what happened, it didn't look like brook but if it was I guess I need to keep an eye on my other guys.

It's could be possible that you have got it from a fish store or from someone selling fish,it's like ick you don't know for quite some time once a new fish is introduced then suddenly it infects every fish in the tank some fish just carry parasites or diseases for the longest time and by the time you find out it's a very close catch or too late sadly
