Hi,

Need some advice on what is wrong with my clown.

Bought a pair from a tank full of them.

After 48 hours one of them though acting normal didn’t look too good. The fins were faded or thin looking the mouth was faded also. The other one had some signs of it but not that bad.

Was told they might be fighting so I separated them using a breeder box.

When caught I saw a white spot on the face which has now turned clear, there was a swollen eye the following day.

Did a fresh water dip.

The bad looking was has not eaten until today one bit of brine shrimp it’s been 4 days.
I’ve put the guy in a hospital tank at 1.010 salinity.

His stomach looks a little bloated.
Wondering if I should do copper treatment, or prazi.

Was told it might be bacterial.
I’m reluctant to do formulin unless I have to.

The eye has since gone down a bit.

Any advice is appreciated.

This looks like brook to me:

If you have formalin, doing a bath is the best thing here. I would do the bath on both fish and move them to a clean sterile QT. The DT will need to be fallow for 6 weeks to eliminate the parasite.

The eye could be a secondary infection from the parasite.

Once the fish are moved to a clean QT you can treat for 10-14 days with Metroplex + Kanaplex + Furan-2.

It doesn’t look power like, is velvet more powder like ?

So I’ve taken out the other clown. The one in pictures is looking better and eating pellets and brine now.

Feeding them during to day and freshwater dipping at the end of each day.

Monitoring ammonia and doing 20% water changes.

Add vitamins such as Selcon to their food as well as garlic extract (not at the same time)

Curious, why not add at the same time?
because they both boost the immunity system and it would be like a double dose with vitamins added.
