i got a clownfish about a month ago from a LFS. he was advertised as a mid at ocellaris but the more i look at him, the more i feel like he’s something else. almost looks like a perc but i’m pretty new to the hobby so i can’t really tell. gorgeous unique looking little guy. he is the lighter color clown in the photos.

1st off, welcome to R2R!!
Looks definitely like a morph of some type. Looks more like A. Ocelaris than A. Percula, but with so much cross breeding today it's almost impossible to know unless you know exactly where and whom it came from.
Clowns do interbreed in the wild, so that is also a possibility

The clown fish looks like a normal Ocelaris to me. It doesn't have the back bar, but that doesn't mean that the fish is anything different. ndrwater is correct though, due to so many cross breeds in captivity now a days, its nearly impossible to tell if they are mix or not. If you like what you see, its a winner in my books.
