Tonight my clownfish i found laying on the ground breathing very heavily, not sure what’s wrong. Temp is 80 salinity is 35ppm and no ammonia. The corals and my tailspot blend i have are doing fine. The only thing i can think of is when feeding my blend today he took a couple of the herbivore pellets and then fed reef frenzy today that he took from frogspawn. Any idea what is happening?

there are a few things but first were your lights off when you found him like this. Believe it or not clowns do goofy things when they sleep sometimes. One of my clowns floats limply at the surface when he sleeps. However the rapid breathing makes me think it is a disease. Did you do qt before putting him in your dt, how long has he been in your dt, have you added anything to the tank recently, are there any other symptoms

Yes the lights were off but lights in room are on. I have had him for about 7 months did not qt him when i first got him but i would think something would come up before now. Just a couple zoas are new but have been in the tank for 2 weeks now.

Did you do a water change? the salinity is a little high (1.026 or 35 in your case) if the salinity jumped that could be a reason. Try turning on the lights for a bit and see if he perks up on his own.

My tomato clownfish look like that every morning. It’s startling to see but they do sleep on the sand. In the pic it looks like the lights are out. Hope this is the reason.

Yeah did a water change today. I’ve had my tank at 35 entire time has been set up. I’ll try the lights to see if he does

They do have some creepy sleeping habits. However its something thats hard not to notice for 7 months. I'd wait the night and see how he is in the morning

Yeah lights just turned off but he usually sleeps next or below overflow wall

Most people run 1.020-1.025. i asked about the water change because if your salinity increased say from 1.022 to 1.026 that would be a fairly large jump.
For fish only tanks i run at 1.020. for reef tanks i run 1.024
