Hello all! So I went to petco last sunday (8/03/14) and they had an absolutely beautiful big snow onyx clownfish. He was on sale for only $30. So my boyfriend and I snatched him up quickly. He's currently in our 75 gallon tank with a platinum clownfish (which we bought a few days ago) and our clean up crew. It's been 8 days since we had him and he will not eat. The platinum ate his first day home. We tried brine, mysis, flakes, SA pellets, even shrimp pellets all with garlic. He just wont eat! He seemed slightly interested in the pellets but hasn't eaten anything.

I tested the tank today and the levels are as followed:
ammonia:0
Nitrate:0
Nitrite: 0
PH:8.2
Salinity: .023
Tempature 78 F

We did notice his fins are slightly ripped when we bought him. It looks like they were old injuries though. Nothing white or anything around them. I have a crappy picture. Does he look alright? He doesn't seem to be losing weight.

Thanks!

What are you feeding? Try mysis, new life spectrum +A, and if that doesn't work try soaking the food in garlic.

We tried mysis, brine, SA pellets and even shrimp pellets. We tried the garlic extract too :/

I'm wondering if maybe his fins are a sign of flukes or something. I don't think they look like fin rot though.

If he has flukes he won't eat...I just had a black snow with flukes and he wouldn't eat, I treated with Prazi Pro and he is fine now

is he breathing rapidly? any signs of discoloration?

Hmm maybe he has flukes then? He's breathing normal, but his fins are a bit torn up and he's not eating. No discoloration as far as I can tell. Did you use the prazi pro in your display tank. I have a few small corals and it seems as though this stuff is reef safe.

I also read a freshwater dip for 10 minutes would do the trick. Should I try that first? Thanks for the help!

I used it in my display...it ****** off my GSP for a bit but I didn't lose anything, I just turned my skimmer off for a week while I let the medicine work

I dosed the amount that it said then did 3 20% WC's

I think i'll try this then. Is flukes fast killing? If my local fish store doesn't have it i'll have to overnight it from online.

I think it's gotta be something with the fish, my other clown ate his first day home so I don't think it's our tank.

Thanks for the help, i'm hoping that it works!

I know my clown would not eat for a while, but I started giving him Limpits reef ready food... he love it and he also loves R.O.E. (Real Ocean Eggs).

This might sound unusual but maybe it's shy and won't eat in front of you. I have some days when certain fish will hide until I'm away from the tank. I spy on them from a distance and they come out to eat. On other days they're waiting for me when I approach the tank. Weird, right? Maybe your fish is a little traumatized from being at Petco; the ones around my location are awful.

Hey good news guys! I went to my LFS and the owner insisted on me trying "entice" by seachem. He gave me a sample of it so I thought why not. Well I used it tonight and tried feeding the clown and he ate a ton of pellets! Now hopefully he will start eating on his own!

Thanks everyone for the help! I'm soo relieved now! :)
