Got a clownfish three days ago and he’s not really eating he’ll eat a pellet here and there but doesn’t really look interested in eating he’ll usually put the food in his mouth and then spit it right out I tried two different types of pellets and today I tried frozen mysis and he wasn’t interested at all the first two days I did notice white string poop hanging from his abdomen possible bacterial infection/worms possibly causing the issue ? I do have prazi on hand to dose if that’s the case anyone have experience with this and have ideas thanks .

I moved this over to the fish disease form. Sounds like internal parasites but I'm by no means a disease expert. Someone will chime in with advice.

Yes sounds like internal parasites. Without being a reliable eater, you’ll have to dose metroplex in the water for 10-14 days in a quarantine. If it ate daily and a normal amount, you could soak the food in metroplex and focus to bind it and feed for 10-14 days

I did just dose 1.25 mls of prazipro guan let that sit for 5 days do an25% water change them dona second dose for another five days to see if this takes care of it I do have metro on hand as well if the prazi doesn’t work . Thank you guys for the response and help

+1 definitely internal parasites. Hopefully the metroplex will perk him up enough to get him eating. You can treat the water and soak food at the same time, so if you can get him to eat at all...a little medicated food is better than none. Just offer small amounts at a time. 1 scoop metro to 1 scoop focus per tablespoon of food, you can mix ahead and refreeze if needed to make it easier.

Can metro and prazi be treated and the same time

API general cure has both metronidazole and praziquantel in it. I'm not sure how the dosage ratio differs when using GC vs. prazipro/metroplex, but if you are treating the water with prazipro while feeding food soaked with metroplex, that's fine.

So frustrating he actively chases the food takes a bite and spits it right out flake mysis pellets anything

I’d dose metroplex in the water since it’s noy ingesting it
