Clownfish not turning black

I hunted down photos of my clowns when I first bought them 7 1/2 years ago. You can see how tiny this one was, but it was black (aside from the face) from the start.

Do you remember how old was it at that stage?

that may explain the delay in color change ....... in my tank i started with a mixed pair of juveniles one orange and one black of course they were both orange at first but once the black showed dominance and became a female she turned completely black within a few months . of course she is much bigger than the orange now...

This was right after I bought them. My guess is they were 3-4 months old (or pretty much whatever age breeders sell their fish).
That's odd. Mine came looking like a mocha. Is your one male or female? Mine, I'm pretty sure is a male.
