I have a new pair of clownfish in a QT with copper power at 2.43 and nitrofurazone in a 10 gallon. Parameters seem to be alright PH 8.2, ammonia .02, nitrite 0, and salinity at 34.9. They are laying on their side frequently as seen in the video. This does not seem normal to me should I do something? I am thinking of moving them to clean saltwater without medications is that a good idea? I don’t want to lose them. Thanks.

Copperpower is fine but Im reluctant to use both at same time. My suspcion is an oxygen issue. Add airstone and assure ammonia has not become elevated. If you move them to clean saltwaree and notice a behavioral change, it will confirm reaction to medication.

I do have a large air stone in the tank. I removed them from the medication and put them in fresh saltwater. Hopefully that helps them. Why are you reluctant to use copper and nitrofurazone at the same time?

I personally don’t like mixing meds while it can be done
My preferred treatment is ruby rally pro for clownfish which addresses velvet, protozoan, bacteria and flukes

Thanks! I will take a look at ruby rally pro. Having a glass lid on the tank would not cause an issue as long as I have an air stone would it? Didn’t know if the water needs open air for gas exchange. Just was the cheapest way to put a top on a QT.

I run glass full time. Saran wrap also works

So I let the fish stay in unmedicated water for a little over a week and they are back to their normal selves. I started the copper power again yesterday and they starting to be sluggish and rest on their sides again. I have a powerhead in the tank along with an air stone and all parameters are good. It seems the cooper power is the culprit. Should I just not treat them and take the risk of moving them to the display tank? Has anyone else seen copper power do this to clownfish?
