Have my paired clownfishes in a QT right now and had noticed:

Is that a ovipositor or just a dirty poop chute ? :D

Thanks (been hoping she’d start laying eggs - had false hopes before)

Congrats, you're almost a clownfish father!

How old are the clowns? I agree that she looks a little preggers. My female is almost 2.5 years old and she is just now starting to act like the hormones are raging, raging against everything in the tank that gets near her

Hope so! A little over a year. They keep playing with my feelings! Haha

How long does it take, roughly, from this point to actually start laying eggs?

Was just about to give up and put the two back in the DT (QT from ick ended a week ago). Wife even said it wasn’t going to happen. Woke up this morning, fed them and was going to do it, but decided to wait a little longer since they were happy in the 20G (all by themselves now that the rest were back in DT).

Went in after dinner to feed them and...

I’m going to be a father (?). Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll catch this batch in time because of holiday travels ahead :(

Hope that doesn’t discourage them from trying again!

Do they have to be separated from fry or anything specific.

:(

What happened? All but 5 eggs disappeared. Would they have ate all those eggs in a day? Nothing changed in the tank.

Yes. And after they have been separated they need to be fed a very precise diet. Their are man threads on here about clowns breeding.

how big was the tube? because both my male and female have theirs down right now but they looks like little nubs not nearly extended to what im thinking they should be anyways... and have been like this for 3 days now! stop playing with my emotions!

Haven’t seen any for some time... until about a week ago. Now what’s left is a real life Finding Nemo - with only one egg

Feel a little silly (and wasteful) for going through the effort to raise one egg - but I also feel like I have to try!

Nemo has hatched! I was starting to wonder if he was still alive. I took him out too early on the 7th day

9th day

10th day

So bummed - Nemo got to almost 8 weeks and woke up to him dead :( No idea why - Ammonia and SG is normal; was eating.

In the meantime - have had 2 more clutches and none have had any viable fry. Got one in the tank right now but they seem to not want to hatch either. Turn silver, but then start turning a blurred grey.
