Hey guys after looking through most of the forum posts I'm at a loss. Iv been reef keeping for 5+ years and these two clowns I just purchased have been such a rollercoaster ride I need to call in the big R2R guns for assistance.

So this is a new tank, iv had it running about 5 months with no fish and just making sure it was cycled properly. I cured the rock for about 3 months before and the sand for about a month before that. My parameters are all within norms (only area I haven't tested is PH due to my pup knocking over the regent) ammonia: 0 nitrate / nitrite: 0 I'm sitting at 1.024 salinity, and a consistant 78 degrees according to my apex.

I purchase these guys as an impulse buy. they were the exact clowns I had been looking for for the past few years. It's one of those man that's 2 good to pass up situations.

Day1/2: Anyway they acted normally in store, I watched them for a good 30min to an hour while chatting with the owner. They pecked at the brine he fed but I didn't see that as such as issue as there was general interest in the food. I got them home, dripped them, and let them loose to explore the tank. Things were fine for about a day n a half and then they stopped being so adventurous and started swimming close together on the bottom on the sand. Things have progressively gotten worse since then. First the was no external symptoms at all except for the behavior change and the small one twitched a bit oddly. Then the second day in the AM I noticed the smaller of the two started to pass some white stringy poo. I got to thinking internal parasites and picked up some prozi at the LFS on the way home that day. Before I started to dose I noticed they had little white ich looking spots on them. Now iv dealt with ick in the past but these dots were directly on both of their lateral lines without any outliers. So after some careful searching I came to the conclusion of HLLE and some internal bugs. I dropped my grounding probe in the tank and thought to myself "I'll see how they look in the morning."

Day 2: woke up to find that there were more ick like spots but still localized to the lateral line and the original ones were starting to reduce in size and disappear. Thinking the problem was solving itself I wanted to tackle the internal situation and started the prazi treatment.

Day 3: Prazi has been at work for about 8 hours at this point. No change in behavior however the small one know reacts very oddly to food now. Once the food is in there and it gets close he will have a mini freak out and twitch around and then calm down. I wouldn't call it a negative reaction but almost like a frustrated one. Still the same MO, white dots were getting smaller and there didn't seem to be any new ones.

Day 4: so here we are today. I got home and had been preparing RODi water and some fresh sw ready for the prazi change. And I find that they now have brook like little splotches now. Most of the Lil spots are gone except one or two.

So here I am stumped, I'm worried I jumped the gun on prazi but iv never had a bad experience with it in the past. My next course of action is to do what I should have done originally and gave them a FW dip and help them out a bit. Im hoping the experts will chime in by then and I'll have a bit more direction. Additionally I'm retrofitting my biocube 29 to be my QT/ hospital tank now and can transfer them over with little issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I can't see much in the pics. The symptoms you describe lead me to Brooklyn + intestinal parasites.

I would move them to a QT. Treat with lrs soaked in Metroplex + focus.

Also dose the metro into the water as directed to treat for Brook. Continue for 10 days.

Alright, I'll have another look at them this morning. Got the cube set up for for QT/Hospital. Here are some pics showing the areas again from last night. Also small behavioral update. Before I cut the lights last night I tried a bit of brine and the larger one started eating a bit. I'm planning on FW dipping them this afternoon and transferring them to the QT. If it is Brook its seems in the very early stages and its very slow coming on which is the opposite of what I heard its normal behavior is. Iv personally never dealt with brook but from what iv read and heard from my local forum folks is it hits hard and fast. Anyway will update later this afternoon.

Reporting back, things have improved. Fish now very interested in food and swim up to it. They still just nibble a bit but I think that's more due to prazi than anything. Bumps have all but gone. The small. One just started scratching his gills n cheeks so I may still proceed with the fw bath.
