Clownfish passed middle of night

Hey everyone I recently checked up on my tank at night and saw my clownfish as she passed sadly, I setup a QT tank because I just moved apartments with some live rock and bacteria (turbostart) my tank basically exploded with a film algae a week after. It’s weird because film algae is normal but the water is like cloudy looks like a phyto tank and the only thing I could think of was I added some pods from reef nutrition for my mandarin. Looking at my clownfish I noticed she does have some red markings so I was thinking possibly ammonia but I do not have a test kit and will grab one tomorrow. All my other fish seem fine and even the corals are doing good.

What water did you use,? Store bought, RO or tap
also was the water circulating with a filter running?
From your post seems like it went from shock

I got a new system it might be the cause. Looking at this on Amazon I think it’s missing the di part ah man I feel so bad

Sorry to see. Its generally impossible to determine a cause once fish is dead and out of water.
Some history may help to come up with possible causes.
Was fish breathing normal or labored the last you saw it?
Was it eating or showing loss of appetite?

Although I see no signs of aggression or shredded tail, and squabbling with any tankmates?

From your description, it sounds like a bacterial bloom occurrence and depleted the oxygen. Does the tank have a skimmer?

Sorry to see. Its generally impossible to determine a cause once fish is dead and out of water.
Some history may help to come up with possible causes.
Was fish breathing normal or labored the last you saw it?
Was it eating or showing loss of appetite?

Although I see no signs of aggression or shredded tail, and squabbling with any tankmates?

In her final moments she seemed to be breathing heavy and was not eating as usual earlier in the day. I’m starting to think it was an algae bloom after looking up stuff last night my tank seems to have cleared when the lights were off last night I might do a black out today to see what happens.

From your description, it sounds like a bacterial bloom occurrence and depleted the oxygen. Does the tank have a skimmer?

No skimmer but my filtration is just a basic HOB I have a wavemaker at the top agitating the surface a bit

Can be bloom, gill flukes, start of brook associated with heavy breathing and loss of appetite but hard to tell without a video when distress occured

@vetteguy53081 I noticed my other clownfish is rapidly breathing and the bottom of his stomach looks a bit weird. Is there anything I can do for him? Here’s a video other fish do seem fine as of right now

Bump hey everyone so my second clownfish is still breathing heavy but I noticed that he has some sort of infection or so on the bottom of him. Here’s a pictures first one is from a day ago here is what he looks like today
