Clownfish pellet

How big is your tank and how long has it been up? I use floating pellets for my clownfish but they already know my face and aren't afraid to swim to the surface for food.

hi, i am new to saltwater aquarium for now i have pair of clownfish, can i know sinking or float pellet are better?

sinking are generally better, try and get one that doesn’t sink too fast.

Hikari Marine S is a good option.

If the fish are small you may need to chop up the pellets until they get bigger.

Hikari marine S is what I use in an auto feeder. It's generally available at pretty much every lfs or petco or pet smart.

there is not set rule, some will, some prefer sinking, it really is a matter of trying which yours prefer.

They can pick off the sand bed but prefer to catch it as it is floating around as then they think it is alive, so their instincts kick in.

I would recommend buying small sample packets of different types, most of the ones mentioned here are great starts, and see what your fish go after.
I personally use the PE pellets which is what my clowns were raised on. They typically float and then will sink after some time but unless it goes right by their face and they are not eating another pellet, it usually hits the ground and forgotten about and the CUC will get it.

A floating pellet can be pre-soaked with nutritional supplements (like Selcon) and become a sinking pellet.

Good luck

My clowns go wild for TDO Chroma Boost (small.) I soak it for 10 minutes in tank water, then a few minutes more with some Selcon. They will chase this stuff all over the water column.
