Hi folks,

I’ve got 2 clowns in QT & noticed “stringy” poop. I’m a noob but roaming around here I’ve learned to watch out for “white stringy poop”.

I snapped this pic and, to me, it looks white & stringy but wanted to get confirmation by some experienced folks.

Is this concerning? If so what meds are recommended?

They’re been in QT for about 4 days now. They’ve eaten a tiny bit but haven’t pigged out yet. Tried frozen shrimp & pellets The fish seem to be behaving normally. Again, these are my first 2 clowns, so I don’t have a ton of experience to rely on but they seems happy; no flashing or heavy breathing etc.

Tank salinity is 1.025, temp in 78ish, ammonia is zero per Seachem badge and Red Sea test kit.

Any help or advice would be very appreciated.

I'm frequently accused of being full of poop. :D

That certainly could be from intestinal parasites. I use General Cure soaked food to treat. You will need a packet of General Cure and a bottle of Seachem Focus (binder). Soak a table spoon of frozen food in one scoop (the scoop that comes with the Focus) of Focus and one scoop of General Cure. Mix it well and feed it one good feeding a day to the fish for 2 weeks. You can use this even in your DT as long as you don't leave uneaten food in the tank. The food will be ok refrigerated for 3-4 days then make a new batch if not used up. If you have Selcon, a couple of drops of it will make the food more appealing to the fish. Some fish get wise to it without the Selcon and spit it out. I always feed this the first feeding of the day when they are good and hungry.

I treat every fish with this as the last step in QT (unless I see something to make me do it sooner) before any fish goes in my tank.
