So Ive had this adult pair of clowns about a week. When I got them I noticed the female (named her Lady) was HUGE. Shes a divinci clown. Starting two days ago shes gotten super aggressive and bites me every time I have my hand in the tank and shes jumped out of the water trying to get me! She does have a bigger belly, so researching I think she might be ready to lay eggs. Is there a simple way to know by looking at her if thats the case? She and the male (Shadow) have cleaned a spot below the nem they have and seem to hover, but no eggs (yet). Also can I do anything to help the eggs (assuming she is going to lay them) to survive and grow? This is her in the pictures below.

My female lays eggs about every 3 weeks or so. Then she patrols the perimeter while the male tends to the eggs. He keeps em clean and never gets far away. Then in about 10-12 days they become fish food, and the process starts all over again.

They live in this hammer.

So you dont try to hatch them? I want to hatch the eggs if I can

Sounds premature for them to go to work being new occupants but Not impossible. They do clean areas where they hang out but dont rule it out. I have 4 breeder pairs and there are tell tale signs when their ready to drop eggs.
Eggs often have a low survival rate when in a tank with other occupants and if frightened, the parents will eat the eggs themselves.

What are the signs your clowns have?

What are the signs your clowns have?
Lip locking
Chasing fish away from area
non stop cleaning and fanning of area
Tremoring their bodies
right before egg laying, they become less active around tank

Mine never leave their Hammer. She gets obviously bloated before laying eggs and extremely aggressive right before and right after laying eggs. She attacks anything that swims by the hammer.

Mine also lay every 3-4 weeks. Just prior to laying and while the eggs are there, the female becomes super aggressive. She calms down again once the eggs hatch. I can tell when they've got a clutch hidden somewhere because the male will vanish for days at a time and the female will drag food back to whatever niche they've lain them in this time.
