I said on another post although I was directed to this one, my male clown keeps picking and rubbing his belly on the same peice of LR. He looks healthy and is eating

Someone Said he might be cleaning the rock for the female to lay eggs!

So a few questions I have.
. What age can they spawn at? I've had my clowns 7 months male is around 2 inches while female is around 3. I got them at about 2-3cm so they must be around 9 months old.

. How can you tell a female is pregnant
. How long does it take for her to lay eggs once u notice the male cleaning the rock
. How do u raise clowns
I have hermits and a pom Pom crab will they eat the eggs

This is my first tank and if she is ready to spawn its really exiting. Thanks!

For me, the male cleans rock, usually female has a larger belly and within a week there are eggs. Then a week until the eggs hatch. My pair has been doing this for a year now, pretty much every 3 weeks there are eggs. If they spawn they must be pretty happy, congrats.

Also that anemone is gorgeous. I've just ordered a Bta last night!

Female larger in size and generally inspect the area being cleaned. 7-12 months they are old enough to pair off. The first clutch or two generally don’t make it but after that, you know their cycle and can prepare ahead of time for eggs

Based on the behavior you describe, it does seem like your clowns are ready to lay eggs.
Sometimes the first clutch of eggs doesn't do very well and there may be lots of unfertilized eggs, which will be eaten. Dont be alarmed by this.
The next clutches will typically be a lot bigger and will have a larger percentage of viable eggs.
I would up your feedings to the clowns to make the clutches bigger. Also, feed high quality foods (PE Mysis, Reef Frenzy, Fertility Frenzy, etc)
If the female looks bloated and they're both cleaning the rock, your odds are very good they are about to lay eggs.
I notice the cleaning behavior starting about 1-2 days before eggs are laid.
Your crabs wont bother the eggs, because the clowns will go postal on them if they get close.

Yeah had them for 7 months. They paired a few weeks after I got them they sleep together and don't leave each others sight. She is about an inch maybe even an inch and a half bigger than him.

So should I attempt to raid the first clutch or just leave it and see what happens

Leave it and track when they lay eggs again- generally biweekly . After that, you can add a clay pot to their breeding area and transfer eggs and parents to a 20 gallon tank to be raised as fry. You will want to have baby brine shrimp and rotifiers as a food source available for the fry
