Clownfish see clownfish do!

I bought a BTA yesterday and put them in a clear Tupperware with my orange storm clownfish pair. 24 hours later and they were still no sign that it is going to work.

I found an article on the net that that some people let their clownfish to watch video of clownfish hosting anemone. So I rigged my Iphone with duck tape and flipper magnet so that I can mount the iphone on the tank facing the clownfish and the nem.
Well it WORKED! Less than 30 minutes later my clownfish started to host the nem. That's gotta be world breaking record in term of getting clownfish to watch video and then see them start to host a nem less than 30 minutes.

LOL that's funny I've read post about keeping a picture of a clownfish in anemone together on the tank as well Triad this never works with my clownfish neither instead of Hosting my anemone they try to host my trachy and my maze brain corals anything but the BTA.

I'm very glad that works for you in my opinion I have to say though it has nothing to do with the video and more just the recognition of the clownfish to the bubble tip anemone congrats and Bravo they'll by getting them to do except try several times with multiple clownfish never ever have I been able to do it today super cool

This is the video that I used. It is only 32 minutes, but my clownfish didn't even finish the video. In 15 minutes or less, they started to host the nem.


There are another videos here that last for 1 hour or longer.

I don't think it is a coincidence. Like I said, it was more than 24 hours and the clownfish didn't even want to stay close to the nem. When I played the video, I actually can see both of the clownfish watching the video. Literally watching the video. It was unbelievable. Less than 15 minutes later, they started to touch the nem and one thing led to another they are hosting the nem.

I’ve tried most things now with two pairs of clownfish. Heard about the photo trick so figured this will work since I don’t have a printer.

I should try this i added a nem about 2 days ago, still trying to get my clownfish to acknowledge the existence of my nem. Its LITERALLY in the most perfect spot! I added the nem right by the clowns hideout, and its decided it enjoys the lighting an has stuck itself onto that spot. Saldy my clowns havent even looked at it! Im hoping one day when im feeding the nem theyll try and steal food and something in their minds will tell them that being in the nem is right.

Now my question is, after I release the anemone and the clownfish, will the clownfish be able to find the anemone and continue to follow the nem where ever it wants to settle??

Prior adding the nem, the clownfish like to hang out on the back upper wall of the tank. I suspect they prefer to hang on the lower flow area?

If they seem to host in the nem in the container, theyll probably want to be around the nem. When it moves theyll follow it, and clowns being clowns they may even try to move it back to where they want it XDD

Are you putting the nem and the clownfish in a container? If not then, maybe they are not close enough to each other. Maybe consider using an Ipad or something with bigger screen. Make sure the screen is on the glass of your tank and not from a distance. Set it up and forget and give it some time. You just set it up literally minutes ago. Give it a time LOL

I have it taped up and saw it comes through. They aren’t in a box since I don’t want to fish out the nem. I just have tried enough things at this point so not getting my hopes up.

I've tried about every last thing they have on this post so far never got my clownfish to do anything that you don't want to do so I wouldn't get my hopes up either bud however on the other hand if it does work congrats and I am extremely happy for you let me know if it works very interested to see

This worked for me a couple months ago. Propped my phone against the tank and the clownfish started hosting within 24 hours even though they’d never shown any interest in hosting before the video! Sadly, neither chose my bta but they are both happy in their hammer/duncan
