Fellow reefers, I need your help.

I have had this clownfish for over 3 weeks. I didn't QT her, but after 1 week, I noticed some white coloration on the top part of her head.

I did 3 (1) hour baths of Acriflavin, but it doesn't seem like it helped.

Can anyone tell if this is Ich, Brook or Velvet?

Just looking at the size (tiny) of those spots, and their number (huge), I'd say this looks a lot like velvet.

Write-up by Humblefish here: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/velvet-amyloodinium-ocellatum.217570/#post-2499399 detailing how velvet "works" and how to fight it. Move quickly - velvet does.

Thanks Bruce for the advice. It's good to get an id on this issue. I kept going back and forth if it was ich, brook or velvet.

I will read Humblefish's write-up to get this clown cured.

^^ Agree; since you already have acriflavine follow this treatment protocol: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/velvet-amyloodinium-ocellatum.217570/#post-2499437

But when the fish goes into QT treat with copper + metronidazole. The latter is just in case this might be brook.

Thanks again Humblefish for the great write up. I'll be passing by my lfs to get the additional medication.

Here is the Chloroquine Phosphate I purchased on eBay last week.

Has anyone tried using this powder before?

Ebay CP is likely to be hit or miss. IMO; it's worth the peace of mind to use tested pharmaceutical grade stuff.

Alright, great news for both of my Onyx Picasso's. Here is what I did.

- 5 minute freshwater dip.
- 60 minute bath with 5ml of Acriflavin.
- 5 minute freshwater dip.
- 60 minute bath with 5ml HealthAid Ich-X.
- 5 minute freshwater dip.
- Placed back into the QT tank and dosed 1/4 teaspoon of Chloroquine Phosphate and half packet (40mg) of Furan-2.

As you can see, the female looks almost brand new. About 90% of the whiteish flakes all over her body is gone.

I will be doing a 50% water change, dose 1/8 teaspoon of CP amd the remaining 40mg of Furan-2.

The pair will be in QT for another 60-90 days for observation before I place them back into the IM 25 Lagoon. Plus, this will assure me that the tank will be fallow for a good amount of time.
