CLOWNFISH STUCK INSIDE HYDROMETER!!!

Woke up this morning to find that my clownfish had gotten into the hydrometer. I think he jumped in through one of the openings at the top somehow. Any solutions??? Tried breaking it open

Maybe a dumb question but can you just turn the hydrometer upside down in the tank and get him to slide out of the opening?

Well, from the first pic, it looks like he has an SG of 1.023 - a bit low, but he should be OK

I can't see from he pic, but I assume there's an opening in the top? I would try tipping it upside down and gently shaking. Just make sure he doesn't go backwards because his pectoral fin will get caught on the swing arm. Otherwise I'd probably just break it open.

I'm sure you've tried turning it upside down, I'd just take a screwdriver or something and try and break it apart.

I currently have it upside down so that he’s faced towards opening. I’ve never seen this before. I’m tempted to find a way to break it open but it seems impossible cause I don’t want to harm the clownfish at all

I’ve tried placing it upside down so he faces the openings. I’m gonna try to use a screwdriver but I’m very nervous too. Don’t want to hurt the little fella

If you have it upside down pull it out of the water, The clown and water should go out the opening.

I would use flow on one side to kinda guide him out

I was able to guide him out through the hole he just kinda broke free from the hole. I turned it upside down and shook it gently. Thank you all so much for your help! I’m glad he’s safe

Good to hear, I would also recommend getting a refractometer or a Instant Ocean hydrometer. The one you have aren’t reliable

I stepped on my Darwin clown last week. Fortunately it was my arch so he didn't get smooshed. He wasn't really moving much so I stuck him in the sump for safety sake and the little bugger made a full recovery.
