Recently added 2x clowns to my mini 25 peninsula and I'm noticing odd behaviour with how they swim.

The majority of the time they seem to be just sitting head facing down in the corner of the tank. I've had clowns before and know they seem to pick a spot and stay there.

I don't think it's a swim bladder issue because it's not 100% of the time. Sometimes they are swimming normally. And it's both of them which were swimming fine in the LFS.

Anyone else do this?

Hmmm. My old clown lasted 20 years and always swam and rested oddly. Just a thought … is the flow too strong for them in places?

Mine do similar! They either swim normal in one spot in the front or squish vertically in the back corner.

Have you had them for long?

Nah flow shouldn't be an issue, just a return pump and slw10 on lowest setting so it's pretty low in there.

They do come out to the front where flow is higher

Yeah when they come out to the front they swim normally. Rest of the time they just float upside down facing the sand in the corner.

Been In a day now so I'm guessing it's just a getting used to the tank moment

Maybe they just have strange resting positions. Clown fish are not the best swimmers so seem to rest at times. My two just hover together in the bottom corner at night. Maybe they all find odd spots where the flow helps them rest up. My two need something they can make friends with …
